A sustainable icon system built for the future

I developed a state-of-the-art icon library in Figma, fully powered by variables to support dynamic customization and scalability. The system includes configurable variables for stroke width, icon size, border radius, and colour themes – ensuring seamless adaptation across light and dark modes.

Each icon is designed once at a core size and automatically scales to all required sizes using predefined variables. This approach enables instant rendering of multiple icon sizes from a single source, streamlining the design process and guaranteeing visual consistency across the entire interface.

More diversity

I updated the existing person icons to better reflect the diversity of our society. Flexible instances allow the creation of a wide range of representations, moving away from conventional, one-size-fits-all visuals and towards a more inclusive, contemporary icon design language.

Flexible libraries

I created comprehensive libraries for all key brand elements – including logos, design elements, icons, colour palettes, spacing, border radii, and even bank card designs. These libraries were thoughtfully interconnected to ensure consistency and scalability across the entire design system. For example, the bank cards incorporate the cross symbol from the design elements library, while the icon library dynamically pulls colour variables from the colour library. This modular approach ensures that updates propagate seamlessly across all components, reinforcing brand coherence and design efficiency.

I translated PostFinance’s brand into a flexible, reusable design system in Figma. This included building shared libraries for logos, design elements, icons, colours, spacing, border radius, bank cards and more. As part of the same effort, I adapted all 800+ icons to be accessible. The system is fully linkable and built for consistency, making it easy for teams to work faster and stay on brand across all projects.
